It became a global tradition. St. Patrick's Day celebrations is an occasion many people look forward to. This cultural and religious celebration happens in honor to Saint Patrick - a 5th Romano-British missionary and bishop. He's considered to be the one, who brought Christianity to Ireland. The March 17th is then the date of his death. Every year on this day, numbers of people are attending parades, festivals, traditional music concerts etc.
Because the Lenten restrictions on eating and drinking are lifted for this day, it's also associated with cider, beer, or Irish whiskey consumption.
Although I'm not such a fan of exuberant partying, I gladly embraced the opportunity to have a dram of Irish whiskey. Since I'm more into Scotch, it was a quite rare occasion. Luckily I had a bottle of Tullamore Dew 14yo Single Malt in my collection. It was a birthday gift. A mostly welcomed birthday gift on St. Patrick's Day.

Tullamore D.E.W. 14yo Single Malt
This bottle contains a 14 year old, triple distilled Irish single malt whiskey. It has been finished in bourbon, Port, Madeira, and Oloroso Sherry Casks. The result? Quite pleasing, fruity whiskey with hints of citrus and vanilla.
Tasting Notes by Producer:
Nose: Vibrant and lively with incredible fruitiness, ripe apples, sweet citrus and hints of tropical fruit all enveloped in vanilla oak.
Taste: Beautifully rich and sweet with layers of fruit, oak, and subtle spice.
Finish: Long lasting sweetness.
Verdict: Although I can be a real sweet-tooth, I'm not fond of too much sweetness when it comes to my drinks. This whiskey is definitely a sweet one. It balances it with a fresh taste of apples, pears, and a touch of citrus. The result is a light, vivid dram, especially suitable for sunny spring days.
